Bauer claims to have encountered several such individuals who have been able to make use of their other skills to achieve success, both personally and professionally. In fact, many individuals with Asperger Syndrome represent a unique part of society, for their single mindedness and obsessive interest in certain academic areas have often contributed to advancements in areas such as science and math (Bauer 1996).
